About me

Growing up in Vancouver, Canada, I spent much of my childhood exploring the forests and beaches of the Pacific Northwest. Those early experiences inspired me to first pursue a career in science, where I conducted research on seabirds in Alaska. But I soon realized that doing science wasn’t enough, I wanted to share it with others.

So I decided to combine my interests in science, visuals and storytelling. I am now a science journalist based in Brooklyn, New York, and hold a Master’s degree in science, health, and environmental reporting from NYU. I’m also an author of a field guide about birds.

My goals in my work

Professionally, I am a science journalist & visual storyteller. My aim is to reveal surprising things about science, nature and society to change to how we think about the world.

From a personal angle, I love thinking about bigger philosophical questions. My newsletter is where I’ll explore some of my emerging thoughts, as well as share recommendations on things I’ve read and/or watched that have jogged interesting ideas.
